Coulou's cafe trumpet meditations (no. 76)

03 Nov 2026 I've been in this multi month room move, reorganization, studio building sitch and this meditation is finally showing what most of the room will hopefully stay like. While I was setting up to record today I realized I've been in a mindset of feeling like I need to be setting up a creative space for so long that the feeling of just being creative felt a little rusty. Such an interesting thing about music and art, the skill and understanding of creativity is endlessly fleeting. It's also what makes it so special. Everytime I take any space from creativity it always feels both exciting and scary to step back into that space. And there's a balance within it as well. Not taking time away from creativity can lead to getting stuck in patterns and narrower ways of seeing things. So I also feel its important to take time to process what I was experiencing during the time I wasn't creating new music. During that time we absorb the world around us, and I find it to be really meaningful to connect what we experienced into the music I make now. To me, my music often feels like my way of expressing my feelings and memories of the life I've lived thus far. Now that this space is set up though, the new creative projects have begun, no matter how scary they may seem I am also so deeply excited and grateful I have the privilege to walk this path.
