The PT-125C (ПТ 125-2сер) type rotary converter is used to supply 36V 400Hz 3phase alternating current to onboard aircraft instruments. The unit has a compound wound DC motor and a permanent magnet syncronous generator. Output Frequency and rotor speed of 12000rpm is stabilzed with varying the shunt field of the motor via resonant circuits in the control box. During run a GPK-48 (ГПК-48) type gyrocompass is wired up as load. Although it's small size the unit generates such a lot of noise, which is comparable to running a vacuum cleaner in the room.
