The city of #Ur was one of the most important #Sumerian city-states in ancient #Mesopotamia during the 3rd millennium BC, and one of the best-preserved and most spectacular remains of this ancient city is the Great #Ziggurat of Ur. The Great Ziggurat, which is today located in the Dhi Qar Province in southern Iraq is a massive step pyramid construction measuring 64 metres in length, 46 metres in width and 30 metres in height. This height, however, is just speculation, as only the bottom of the structure survives today and even this has been heavily renovated.
