Sergei Rachmaninov (1873-1943) Let us rest Op. 26 n° 3

We shall rest! We shall hear the angels, We shall see all of heaven clad in diamonds, We shall see how all earthly evil and All our sufferings will drown in mercy, Which will cover the whole earth, And our life will become as peaceful, Tender and sweet as a caress. I believe, I believe… We shall rest… we shall rest. (Anton Tchekov, Uncle Vanya, Act IV) Image: Production of Uncle Vanya, Moscow, 1899 Wikimedia Commons
