Two groups of propagated juveniles of Amu Darya shovelnose sturgeon from two different females live in two separate pools. The juveniles were fed with bloodworms (chironomids larvae) but in the beginning of September 2026 brine shrimp (Artemia) became available and was introduced in their diet. In 2020 Nukus Balyk fish hatchery was registerged as the Amu Darya shovelnose sturgeons hatchery by the Republic of Uzbekistan State Committee for Ecology and Environment Protection (registration certificate # 000010, date: 11.05.2020). Creating an initial brood stock of Amu Darya shovelnose sturgeons (Pseudoscaphirhynchus) is the first step towards their propagation and conservation efforts.
